What Exactly Are The Different Degrees Of Hemorrhoids

As you might already have been aware -- hemorrhoids appear in numerous sizes and shapes, and how severe they are could also vary significantly from case to case. Due to this, there is a technique to differentiate between the completely different degrees of hemorrhoids. By realizing and understanding how minor or severe hemorrhoids can be, you would appreciate just how much of a difference there may be!

Before we jump into that, there are a few things that you have to be aware of though. To start with, different 'levels' of hemorrhoids only apply to internal hemorrhoids (i.e. those that have formed in the rectum). External hemorrhoids (as yet) don't actually have a formal system to gauge how intense they could be, and the distinction must be quite clear.

More importantly however, there's one term that you need to find out about, and that is 'prolapsed hemorrhoids'.

If you've heard of this before, good, but just in case you have not then you need to know that prolapsed hemorrhoids are mainly just internal hemorrhoids that have grown and been pushed out the anus itself. Due to this, they look like growths extending from the anus itself, and they may bleed and be really painful sometimes.

Anyway, now that we have covered that, here are the four degrees of internal hemorrhoids:

1. Grade 1

So far as hemorrhoids go, these are the mildest and consist of hemorrhoids that do not prolapse. That means that they remain as internal hemorrhoids but might bleed when irritated. Generally speaking, the bulk of hemorrhoids are in this grade, and a few might even pass totally unnoticed by those who suffer from it.

2. Grade 2

Compared to Grade 1, Grade 2 hemorrhoids do prolapse, but then they minimize in size pretty fast afterwards. So although probably have a prolapsed hemorrhoid for some time, it is going to shrink and reduce in size until it virtually isn't there at all.

3. Grade 3

Next in line would be the kind of hemorrhoids that do prolapse, but don't reduce right away. The truth is, they should be 'manually' reduced, through numerous procedures, treatments, and other things. All said and done, this is definitely pesky because it will require you to deal with the hemorrhoid as soon as possible.

4. Grade 4

Last, but certainly not least, is essentially the most severe type of hemorrhoid -- and this is of the type that can't be manually reduced. Unfortunately, this leaves you with hardly any options, and it is extremely tedious... to say the least.

Do you see how the different levels of hemorrhoids could vary significantly? Being aware of the various types of hemorrhoids that are out there, and improving your own understanding in general will definitely be of help to you as you fight your very own hemorrhoids!
